Who We Are:

Materialize is the live context layer for AI agents and applications. Materialize lets engineering teams use SQL to transform siloed operational data into up-to-the-second, trustworthy views into any element of their business — delivering fresh context to AI agents, interactive search pipelines, and enabling low-latency, event-driven architectures for microservices and core business processes. Materialize is trusted by Notion, Bilt Rewards, and Crane Worldwide Logistics to solve their most pressing operational data challenges while building a live data foundation for their AI transformation.

Our team spans the US (NYC headquarters), Canada, and EMEA.

Investors:

Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Role Overview

As an Enterprise Account Executive at Materialize, you are the commercial engine of a customer-facing team, owning pipeline generation, full-cycle deals, and expansion across a named account territory. You'll join a team of Account Executives working directly with our Head of Sales to engage engineering-led organizations building on Materialize to power AI agents, data-intensive applications, and real-time operational workflows for customers like Notion, General Mills, Bilt Rewards, and Crane Worldwide Logisitcs.

You own the deal from first call to close. In your first year, you'll build a pipeline of enterprise opportunities across inbound and outbound, close your first six-figure deals, and develop deep fluency in Materialize's technical differentiation and competitive positioning. This role is for someone who can hold a substantive conversation with Engineering leadership, thrives on complex technical sales cycles, and wants to own outcomes.

This role is based in our NYC office near Astor Place, with a minimum of 3 days per week in person.

Responsibilities

Generate new business pipeline through inbound fielding and outbound into named target accounts and high-intent prospects
Expand relationships in existing enterprise accounts, identifying and driving expansion opportunities across large organizations
Lead complex sales cycles end-to-end: scoping, demonstrating, negotiating, and closing six- and seven-figure deals
Sell mission-critical enterprise software to technical buyers — engineering executives, software architects, and development teams
Collaborate with Field Engineering on technical positioning, POVs, and deal strategy
Operate with MEDDPICC rigor and maintain strong Salesforce hygiene across your pipeline
Travel roughly 25–30% to build in-person relationships with prospects and customers and represent Materialize at key industry events

What We're Looking For

3+ years of enterprise software sales experience with a demonstrated track record of closing complex, six-figure deals to technical buyers; seven-figure deals a strong plus
Currently or recently selling at a database company: you understand the buyer, the competitive landscape, and what it takes to win in this category
You manage full-cycle enterprise sales: discovery, technical validation, negotiation, and close
A demonstrated outbound muscle: you've built pipeline from scratch
Comfortable engaging with C-suite and VP Engineering stakeholders, navigating complex procurement, and negotiating enterprise SaaS contracts
You've operated in lean, early-stage environments: you take initiative, move without a large support structure, and work directly with leadership
Proficient with Salesforce, Outreach, and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
Experience at a fast-growing startup is a plus

Location: NYC (hybrid, minimum 3 days/week at our Astor Place HQ)

Base Salary: $140,000-170,000 USD/year plus additional variable bonus and equity in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

The salary range provided in this job description should not be considered a guarantee or commitment. The actual compensation offered may vary based on individual qualifications objectively assessed during the application and interview process, including but not limited to the candidate’s:

Qualifications and relevant work experience
Educational background and credentials
Relevant skills and certifications
Geographic location
Market demands

Materialize reserves the right to adjust the salary range based on the candidate's specific circumstances and the overall compensation package.

We understand it takes a diverse team of highly intelligent, passionate, curious, and creative people to develop the exceptional product we are building. Our dynamic team has incredible perspectives to share, just as we know you do, and we take great pride in being an equal opportunity employer.

1f:T1fbb,

Who We Are:

Our team spans the US (NYC headquarters), Canada, and EMEA.

Investors:

Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Role Overview

As Materialize's first Forward Deployed Engineer, you embed with a small number of our most strategic customers and help them build end-to-end solutions with Materialize at the core. You'll join our Go-To-Market organization, partnering with Account Executives and Field Engineering to take engineering-led organizations, customers like Notion, General Mills, Bilt Rewards, and Crane Worldwide Logistics, from signed contract to live deployment, and then to the use case after that.

You own delivery end to end: architecture, pipelines, integrations, and production rollout. In your first year, you'll write the SQL and integration code that gets customers into production and beyond, and build the reference architectures and delivery patterns the FDE team will run on. You'll have a direct line to Product and Engineering, and what you learn in customer environments will help shape the roadmap. This role is for someone who is comfortable owning an ambiguous, high-stakes problem inside someone else's codebase, and who wants to define a function rather than inherit one.

This role is based in our NYC office near Astor Place, with a minimum of 3 days per week in person. Travel 30–50% during active customer engagements, and less between them. You'll be onsite when it matters most: kickoffs, critical launches, and production cutovers.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end technical delivery for a small number of flagship accounts, from architecture design through production cutover and beyond
Build the connectors, SQL-based views, and integrations that put Materialize into production — Postgres and MySQL CDC, Kafka, Kinesis, dbt, BI tools, and customer applications
Plan and run migrations from existing systems, including dual writes and controlled cutover
Design Materialize architectures for real-time use cases: fraud detection, dynamic pricing, operational dashboards, context for AI agents, and event-driven pipelines
Write and debug complex SQL and streaming pipelines directly in customer environments, alongside their engineering teams
Support customers through implementation, production hardening, and critical launches
Build the reusable layer (reference architectures, internal tooling, and implementation patterns) that makes each deployment faster than the last
Translate what you see in the field into clear product and engineering feedback: friction points, missing features, and the workarounds customers keep reaching for
Act as a trusted technical advisor on architecture, scaling, and best practices for real-time data
Travel roughly 20–25% for onsite customer engagements and key industry events

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of engineering experience, including 1+ years in a post-sales, customer-facing role (e.g., forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, solutions architecture, or technical consulting) with a track record of owning complex enterprise implementations
Strong SQL and a solid understanding of modern data architectures: relational databases, event streaming, and change data capture
Hands-on experience with streaming or event-driven systems (Kafka, Debezium/CDC, Kinesis, Flink, Spark Streaming, or similar)
You write code. Proficiency in at least one of Python, Java, or TypeScript for building integrations and tooling
Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments
You've taken systems from prototype to production in someone else's environment, including the unglamorous parts: performance tuning, failure modes, monitoring, and handoff
Comfortable owning ambiguous, high-stakes technical problems with incomplete information, and moving without a large support structure
Excellent written and verbal communication: you can translate deeply technical trade-offs for both engineers and executives, and you leave behind designs and runbooks that outlive the engagement
Experience with another streaming SQL engine or a modern data warehouse (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift) is a plus
Production experience with AI agents or LLM applications, especially the context layer that feeds them fresh, trustworthy data, is a plus
Experience at a fast-growing startup, or as an early member of an FDE or professional services function, is a plus

Location: NYC (hybrid, minimum 3 days/week at our Astor Place HQ)

Salary: $180,000 - $225,000 USD/year plus additional variable bonus and equity in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

20:T1b4f,

Who We Are:

Our team spans the US (NYC headquarters), Canada, and EMEA.

Investors:

Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

Role Overview

As Product Manager for Developer Experience at Materialize, your mission is to make Materialize delightful to use. You own every surface a developer touches from first signup to production. The quality of that path is what drives our product-led sales motion: developers who succeed on their own become the organic leads our go-to-market team builds on.

This is a highly technical individual contributor role with a wide scope and room to grow. You will work directly with engineering, field engineering, and marketing, talk to customers yourself, and build working demos rather than writing documents about them. This is a rare opportunity to help create a new category of software infrastructure.

This role is based in our NYC office (by Astor Place), with an expectation of 3 days per week in person.

Responsibilities

Define the strategy for your product area and work across engineering, product, and go-to-market to execute on it
Own every surface developers interact with, which today includes our agent skills, MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers, orchestration tools, our console, and our documentation, and drive new features from idea to launch across each of them
Own the onboarding funnel end to end: define the metrics that show whether it is working, partner with your engineering team to instrument them, monitor them yourself, and let them set your roadmap
Set the developer experience standards other product managers build against, such as how our error messages should read
Partner with Field Engineering on demos and launch enablement, and with Marketing on how the developer story reaches the market
Talk to customers directly for insight, and run demos that drive adoption
Become the authoritative expert on your product area through market research, customer conversations, and using the product yourself

What We're Looking For

Taste in developer experience above everything else. You have strong instincts to guide your decisions.
3+ years as a product manager or founder, entrepreneurial in spirit, and comfortable working alongside highly technical engineering teams
Prior experience building developer tools, ideally more than once. You have public-facing developer documentation for a feature you have shipped.
Direct customer-facing experience, where what you heard changed what you built
Excellent technical communication skills, including the ability to hold an architecture discussion with a customer's engineers
A track record of owning outcomes in an unstructured environment, where you set the priorities rather than receive them
Comfort with AI-native workflows; you would rather build a working demo than write a document
Nice to have: 2+ years of software engineering or site reliability engineering experience
We will also consider candidates coming from developer relations or developer experience engineering who can demonstrate real taste, even with less formal product management experience

Location: NYC (hybrid, minimum 3 days/week at our Astor Place HQ)

Salary: $165,000 - $210,000 USD/year plus equity in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. The base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

21:T1965,

Who We Are:

Our team spans the US (NYC headquarters), Canada, and EMEA.

Investors:

Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

About the Role

Our database technology sits at the heart of the Materialize product—a product that transforms years of cutting-edge academic research into the missing element of today’s data architecture. As a member of our Database team, you will join a team of ~10 incredible engineers focused on solving ambitious systems problems in service of delivering this remarkable product to our users.

Recent examples of the work the Database team focuses on include: evergreen efforts to drive down freshness & responsiveness while continuing to deliver correct, consistent results; making each layer of the system more easily scalable; building the right primitives to integrate with the varied software development lifecycles of our users; unifying memory and disk through transparent use of swap; making our release process more predictable and reliable; writing clear documentation both internally and externally; improving observability and debugging tooling; and deleting lots of no-longer-needed code.

This role is based in our NYC office (by Astor Place), with an expectation of ≥3 days per week in person.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver improvements to the Database, with an eye on correctness, reliability, and performance.
Own projects end-to-end, from early stage design to holding the pager.
Debug and resolve complex distributed systems issues, sometimes directly with customers.
Continually improve system reliability, observability, and automation.
Collaborate across your team, with Product, with Field Eng, and all other stakeholders to align on direction, carefully prioritize, and build the best product for our users.
Share your work through mentorship, demos, blog posts, and any other relevant channels.

About You

You have several years of experience developing software, and are passionate about distributed systems and/or databases. If you don’t use it already, you’re excited to learn Rust.
You take pride in owning your work all the way through. Whether it’s early design work, close code review, holding the pager, writing the docs, or teaching the system to your newest team member, you take responsibility for your work at every step.
You strive to make your work easy for others to understand. You write clear design docs and write clear, well-documented code. You love to take hard problems and make them simpler. And still simpler—until all of the complexity is boiled away.
You love to solve hard problems in service of the customer and you approach those hard problems from all perspectives. Some of your greatest engineering moments come from the times you solved problems by not writing any code.
You’re excited about working at the intersection of frontier academic research and the fast-paced realities of a venture-backed startup. You love the multidimensional problem of balancing engineering resilience, delivery speed, and product value.
You want to build something great.
